Red Rock Canyon's timed-entry season started again on October 1. A reservation is now required for any vehicle entering the Scenic Drive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the season runs through May 31. You can still enter at any hour without one, as long as your car passes the fee station before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m., and only while the Scenic Drive is still open.
The catch is that last condition. In October, the Scenic Drive closes at 7 p.m. On November 1 the closing time moves to 5 p.m. That means the evening entry with no reservation is available for this month only. After October 31, the only way in without a reservation is the two hours between the 6 a.m. opening and 8 a.m.
For anyone at Red Rock Country Club, that change shapes the whole fall calendar. In the reservation-free hours, the canyon takes the morning. The club's fall events sit in the late afternoon and evening.
The Hours That Don't Need A Reservation, Month By Month
| Month | Scenic Drive hours | Before 8 a.m., no reservation | After 5 p.m., no reservation |
|---|---|---|---|
| October | 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. | 6 – 8 a.m. | 5 – 7 p.m. |
| November | 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. | 6 – 8 a.m. | None |
| December | 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. | 6 – 8 a.m. | None |
| Thanksgiving Day | 6 a.m. – noon | 6 – 8 a.m. | None |
The Southern Nevada Conservancy's reservation notice also lists hours for later in the season. November through February run 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The drive stays open until 7 p.m. again in March and until 8 p.m. in April and May. The evening entry with no reservation goes away November 1 and doesn't come back until March.
Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the reservation rules are strict. A reservation covers a one-hour arrival slot, and you can arrive up to 30 minutes early. If you miss your hour, you may need to book the next slot. Once you're in, you can stay as long as the Scenic Drive is open that day. The 13-mile loop runs one way, so you can't turn around partway. The Conservancy also warns that parking lots fill early on weekends, and that between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. some lots may already be closed.
So a midday trip needs a reservation, a timed arrival, and some luck with parking. A visit before 8 a.m. needs none of those.
What A Reserved Entry Costs, Including On Free Days
If a morning start doesn't work, a reservation is fairly cheap. Recreation.gov lists a $20 entrance fee for a personal vehicle and $10 for a motorcycle or scooter. Each ticket also carries a separate, nonrefundable $2 reservation fee. Annual and lifetime pass holders pay only the $2 reservation fee.
Two of 2026's fee-free days fall in the next six weeks: Theodore Roosevelt's Birthday on Tuesday, October 27, and Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11. On those days the vehicle entrance fee is $0, but you still need a reservation, and the $2 fee still applies. A fee-free day removes the entrance fee only. Reservations are still required and still limited by time slot. The Conservancy's own notice lists different fee-free dates from Recreation.gov's 2026 ticket page. If you're planning around these days, check the Recreation.gov timed-entry page first.
The reservation line at (877) 444-6777 is Recreation.gov's, not the canyon's. The Conservancy's hikeline can't change a booking.
The Mile That Skips The Fee Station Entirely
The timed-entry rules cover cars on the Scenic Drive. The first finished segment of the Red Rock Legacy Trail is a separate route with its own parking lot.
Clark County officials marked the completion of the trail's first mile on April 28, 2026, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The segment includes a bridge over a wash, and a new parking lot sits at Charleston Boulevard and Sky Vista Drive. As part of the same phase, the Red Rock Canyon entrance sign was moved to a lot where people can take photos safely. The path is 12 feet wide and keeps cyclists, joggers, and people with strollers out of traffic on State Route 159. KLAS rode the segment during a live broadcast on May 11 and described a paved mile heading west from the Charleston and Sky Vista corner.
The full trail is planned at 19 miles, running from the edge of Summerlin to Blue Diamond Road. The county, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Nevada Department of Transportation are building it together for an expected cost of about $100 million. Commissioner Justin Jones said the whole project should be finished within three years. The BLM project page says phases 2 through 5 are still in early planning, and no construction dates have been announced. For this fall, that leaves one mile. It's short, but it gives you a bike ride, run, or stroller walk on the canyon side of Charleston at any hour, including the hours when the Scenic Drive requires a booking.
Where The Club's Fall Calendar Sits On The Clock
Red Rock Country Club's own fall calendar runs on a different schedule from the canyon. Every event the club has posted for the season starts in the afternoon or evening.
- Friday, October 9: Oktoberfest-inspired happy hour. The happy-hour menu runs 3 to 5 p.m., and house drinks are half price from 3 to 9 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 20: Trivia Night. 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a buffet, cookies, and nonalcoholic drinks for $20++ per person.
- Tuesday, October 27: fee-free day at Red Rock Canyon. A reservation and the $2 fee are still required.
- Wednesday, October 28: Halloween Family Night. 5 to 8 p.m., with dinner and family activities. Prices are $39++ for children and $49++ for adults, and children 2 and under are free.
- Friday, October 30: Halloween happy hour. The happy-hour menu runs 3 to 5 p.m., and house drinks are half price from 3 to 9 p.m.
- Sunday, November 1: Scenic Drive closes at 5 p.m. Starting today, the only reservation-free entry is before 8 a.m.
- Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day fee-free day. A reservation and the $2 fee are still required.
- Tuesday, November 24, and Tuesday, December 29: Trivia Night. Same 4:30 to 7 p.m. schedule.
In October, the two calendars overlap. Trivia on October 20 and Halloween Family Night on October 28 both fall during the canyon's 5-to-7 p.m. window, so on those evenings it's one or the other. The November and December trivia nights start at 4:30 p.m. The Scenic Drive closes at 5 p.m. those months, so there's no evening window left to pick over trivia, and the reservation-free canyon hours and the club's events no longer overlap.
The club's posted trivia graphic was available when this research was done but returned an error later. Confirm the November and December trivia dates with the club before planning around them.
The Rooms Behind The Calendar
The club's membership page lists its dining and social spaces as the Oasis Grill, the Palmer Lounge, the Pool Side Cabana Grill, Arroyo Restaurant, and the Sports Clubhouse. Club Social Events are listed as a membership benefit. The fall flyers don't say whether nonmembers or guests can attend specific nights, so ask before bringing visitors. Bookings go through [email protected].
The two golf courses follow the same split. The Mountain Golf Course is private and the Arroyo Golf Course is public. GolfPass credits both courses to Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. Visitors coming for a canyon morning can also book a round on Arroyo, while the Mountain course stays private.
A Fall Weekday, Arranged Around The Two Clocks
Put the two calendars together and a November day looks like this. Enter the Scenic Drive before 8 a.m. with no booking. Once you're through the fee station, you can stay on the loop until the 5 p.m. close. You'll be leaving around the time the club's 3 p.m. happy-hour pricing starts on event nights. In October, the evening canyon window is still available on the nights the club isn't hosting anything. On the two fee-free days, the entrance fee is waived, but you'll still need a $2 reservation if you're entering after 8.
On Thanksgiving, the Scenic Drive closes at noon and the Visitor Center is open 8 a.m. to noon. Even on the holiday, the reservation-free window opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 8.
